Objectives

1) Capacity building for sustained organizational and leadership development of grassroots and economic development organizations.

2) Work towards creating new avenues of philanthropy, social entrepreneurship and leadership among grass roots, social change and economic development organizations.

3) Create vehicles and tools for effective resource leveraging, community planning, organizing and building of strong collaborations to improve the living conditions and opportunities for marginalized communities and communities in transition.


Project Leader Experience

Marta Segura, M.P.H. has been working for over 15 years with foundations, universities, non profits, social justice groups, immigrant led organizations, small businesses and community centers. This experience coupled with her experience in building alliances among multi-cultural and multi-issue coalitions with varying types and sizes of organizations gives her a unique perspective as an organizational development specialist to support the advancement of emerging and developing organizations. As an example, Segura has worked with informal sector groups from the immigrant community, Maquiladora social justice organizations, environmental justice groups and several other multi-issue organizations in the Southwest. Segura’s Master’s degree in Public Health from UCLA, has afforded her a broad perspective of the systemic issues that affect and impact our health & society. Segura has also worked as a program officer for foundations which influenced and informed her approaches for supporting organizational capacity building, transition and leadership development.
