Hiring a coach is like hiring a trainer. If you want to get your body in better shape you hire a trainer. If you want to get your business in better shape, you hire a coach. As I wrote in a previous blog, I recently hired a business coach for me – the coach. And, I have seen remarkable differences in my business.
Recently, I committed with a small group of friends, to enter into a bike race as a team. This 508 mile relay race starts in Santa Clarita and makes its way to Mt. Whitney and then through Death Valley before finishing in the desert in Twenty-nine Palms. With 35,000’ of climbing done in the mountains of the Eastern Sierras, this race is considered by the organizers to be “the toughest 48 hours in sport” and is the world’s premier ultra-marathon bicycle race. I would not have even considered doing this if it weren’t for my friend Vinnie, who is an elite cyclist capable of riding long distances over many days. He has competed in this race three times as a soloist. Vinnie is a professional trainer and has helped many of his clients to compete in running marathons, cycling centuries and participating in ironman competitions over his 30 year career as a trainer. With his help, guidance and expertise in the areas of nutrition, hydration and training, I have no doubt that my goal will be easily accomplished.
But, I wouldn’t have done it if it weren’t for him. Like a good business coach who can help you realize your vision, shorten the road to reaching your business goals, having the right trainer will help you achieve physical athletic challenges you set before you. I know I’m glad I have my trainer.
